THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WHITEST COTTON

Supima® (Superior Pima) is an Extra-Long Staple cotton renowned for its long and fine white fibres. It is mainly cultivated in California, in around 500 family owned farms.

Among its identifying characteristics is the absence of fibre pollution due to mechanical harvesting and a remarkable resistance to pilling.  Moreover, it is twice as resistant as standard cotton, so more suitable for manufacturing long-life products for the fashion and homeware industries.
It is intrinsically softer, it has an excellent capacity to absorb the dye thanks to the fineness of the extra-long fibre and its particular purity makes it ideal for the production of white fabrics.

A TRACEABLE COTTON RANGE

The Supima® cotton managed by ICA Yarns is scientifically traceable thanks to a certification process developed by Oritain™, our forensic science partner. Following a test on the chemical properties of the fibre, Oritain™ builds statistical models which can transform the information into a unique fingerprint for that cotton and for the environment in which it originates, tracing the fibre from the filed to the fabric, guaranteeing not only its origin but also the quality of its ethical and sustainable production.

Supima inspects and certifies the origin of each yarn with Supima® trademark.
Verified by Oritain certifies that the yarns are scientifically traced through an accurate process based on forensic science. This makes it possible to trace the origin of the cotton and all phases of the production process.
