THE SCIENTIFICALLY TRACEABLE ORGANIC COTTON

BIOFUSION® is an ICA Yarns project that combines the cultivation of organic cotton with forensic science, to obtain a scientifically traceable product.
BIOFUSION® primarily uses American organic cottons, more specifically: Supima®, the most prestigious American Extra-Long Staple cotton, and Upland, a long fibre cotton of premium quality in collaboration with six American farmers located in Texas, New Mexico and California.

ICA Yarns directly manages and controls the cultivation of these cottons with the objective of guaranteeing total compliance with regulations, high quality standards and traceability of the entire production chain.

BIOFUSION® can be ordered as a mixed blend or 100% Supima®, depending on the needs of the customer.

WHAT DOES “SCIENTIFICALLY TRACEABLE” MEAN?

The tracing process begins with collecting the cotton samples from the crop field. The samples are analysed by Oritain™ using forensic science to test the chemical properties of the cotton fibre. By means of statistical models, this information is transformed into a unique fingerprint for that cotton and for the environment in which it originates.

Thanks to this process, the organic cotton BIOFUSION® is traced from the field to the fabric: not only a guarantee of its origin, but also of its quality and of an ethical and sustainable production.
